PSAT® Test Preparation
The PSAT®/NMSQT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is administered by the College Board and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Broken into three parts, verbal, math and writing skills, the PSAT® is used to determine eligibility for the National Merit Scholarships. Typically to be selected as a semifinalist, you must score at the 99th percentile or above in your state. Each state has it's own selection score to allow an equitable geographic distribution of semifinalists. Beyond the NMS, the PSAT is good practice for the SAT or ACT and a poor score will not hurt your college chances. Many students take it in both 10th and 11th grades, with some taking it even earlier.
